Plot: An American journalist on assignment in the Australian outback encounters a man-eating crocodile.
If it's like Deep Blue See or Lake Placid, I'll probably like it. Melodramatic Sci Fi does have it's own enjoyablitiy.
Very captivating & great movie of all crocodile movies i have ever seen.. Watch it! Actors & actresses are good..
"Welcome to the Terrortory"
An idyllic wildlife cruise disintegrates into terror when a party of tourists are stalked by a massive man-eating crocodile. Pete McKell, a cynical American travel writer, joins a disparate group of holiday-makers on a river cruise through the waters of Kakadu National Park. Initially Pete clashes with their tour captain, Kate, a feisty young woman who assumes he is just another 'city-slicker' in search of a quick thrill. After an uneventful day cruising the river, Kate is reluctantly persuaded to steer their boat into unexplored territory. They discover a secluded lake but terror strikes when their craft receives a powerful blow from beneath the murky depths and begins to sink. With little choice, she beaches the vessel on the closest dry land -a tiny mud island. With a rising tide and only half an hour of daylight left, fear grips the group as they realize they are trapped in the lair of a 'rogue' crocodile, governed only by its need to hunt and kill. Begrudgingly, Pete and Kate join forces to keep hysteria at bay and in the process start to see beyond their initial impressions. Their first attempt to escape fails, but then Pete has an idea - they must trap the crocodile to enable the group to flee to the other side of the island whilst Kate swims for help. Pete volunteers to stand guard, but without warning, the beast breaks free and targets Kate who fails to resurface. As darkness descends and the muddy waters rise, a terrifying struggle ensues with only one probable outcome death.
Review
Rogue all in all, is a solid effort. Wolf Creek director Greg McLean manages to build up the tension only showing glimpses of the horrible monster that lies beneath the swamp for the first half of the movie. These little glimpses alone will definitely scare the bejesus out of you as it doesn't rely on "scare-you-with-a-black-cat" from somewhere like the current trend today in the horror genre. Like I said, he builds and builds the tension, slowly scaring you to death as it all leads up to one mind-blowing, heart pounding finale.
Another factor is the beast itself, the killer Saltwater crocodile. It came off as pretty convincing, the way they rendered the texture, the skin, the whole shebang. The movement of the killer croc was spot-on too. And unlike Lake Placid where the crocodile is as big as the HMS Titanic, this one stayed real giving the killer croc a believable size. All in all, if you crave for some spooky thrills and killer beasts, I suggest you go see this one you won't be disappointed.
Wolf Creek was far superior. Lame ending. great scenes of the Aussie outback though. The ending was disappointing
Very very exciting.. Really has a crocodile that is 7 meter long?
If someone like the movie 5that is exciting , this is a good choice o...
Greg McLean is looking to be someone to watch out for. After scaring audiences witless with his Aussie outback shocker "Wolf Creek" and hurting the Australian Tourism Board immensely his back at it again. However, this time he replaces a serial killer with a 7 metre saltwater crocodile who's hungry for humans and luckily a boat full of them arrives at his doorstep.
McLean doesn't waste time with a huge story, it is very basic and to the point. Pete McKell is an American travel writer who travels the world and writes about the places he visits. He is sent to the Northern Territory to go on a river cruise which is lead by Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell). On board there are plenty of other tourists waiting to become bait.
The movie starts off with some beautiful scenes of Australian outback, they are absolutely stunning. When the action starts, though, it never lets up. For the rest of the movie I was on the edge of my seat, McLean really knows how to racket up the tension. It helps that the river is murky and we don't see too much of our monster until the end. And when we do see our crocodile friend it is amazing. Part CG and part animatronics, the crocodile looks very good and very menacing.
The acting is good all round, although the characters aren't hugely deep, the actors do a good job of making us love them or hate them. Particularly good is John Jarret (of Wolf Creek fame) and Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill).
For those that like blood and gore you won't be too disappointed, there is some and it's nice and bloody when it comes.
3½/5
A very suspenseful, hugely enjoyable creature feature from the man who brought us Wolf Creek. This is more of a suspense horror and doesn't rely on constant gore effects at every turn, but if you want a tense and scary movie, look no further.
6/10 Pretty much lite Black water, but still good since that the two main character survived and it's not recommended to see it alone!
A tips: Watch it with someone you like or trust like family and friends! ;)
great croc killer movie
great CGI also it looks pretty real.
they were some tense nd suspensful parts especially i nthe lair when the croc is asleep nd hes tryin to escape the lair that was good.
Slow but worthwhile entry in the giant killer animal genre. Boasts a good cast, great score and decent (usually) CG.
Although there really haven't been many of them, 'Rogue' is easily the greatest Croco-horror movie ever made.
Just got through renting this thank goodness eye didn't buy it. The film ultimatly disapointed me, the characters were stupid and anoying, well all except for the marginally likeable tour guide. The real star of the film however is Mr. Crocodylus porosus in laymans terms it means Salt Water Crocodile. Yes Mr. Saltie is one bad mutha f***a! It's a shame that the rest of the film falls flat this film could have easily topped JAWS if the cast didn't kill the film entirly. This film features some of the most beautiful wildlife footage you'll ever see it made me want to take a trip to Austrilia which eye will have to do at some point in my life. The film is based on the true story of Sweetheart the rogue crocodile that attacked boats and was considered a major threat and was hunted and eventually killed,(check out the article about it on Google).
The movie was exagerated with a tidal flow ( has none in that area ) and a few things that did not feel or look right other wise, not a bad movie !!
I had heard that a lot of people liked this movie, and so even tho the premise klooked weak to me, I gave it a chance.
But I wasn't impressed at all. It was pretty boring. AI kept waiting for it to get better.
Even for the genre, the ending was laughably ridiculous.
Rent Wolf Creek instea if you haven;t already seen it.
Greg McLean is one of my favorite new directors and this one just adds to his list of great movies along with Wolf Creek
pretty good movie. i liked the story but it was not original at all. good action and violence even though you could tell it looked very fake.
Let me start with the positive things about the film.Decent performances by the cast, great effects, some suspenseful & intense moments.I wasn't surprise about the film being a little slow before the action takes place, since is a film directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek). My biggest problem is that the crocodile doesn't appear that much until halfway of the movie & most of the kills happen off screen. Some quick glimpses here & there. The action & intense sequences are so effective tours the last 20 mins of the film.Flixster - Share Movies
Good croc movie... Thought it might be as hurtin' as Lake Placid 2 but it was actually pretty good! Worth a peek!
Australian horror film about a killer crocodile is essentially the umpteenth retelling of Jaws. But wait a minute! This suspenseful well-paced version of "When Animals Attack" isn't half bad. Superior cinematography and music give this horror film the feel of quality.
Wow, I wasn't expecting how tense this actually ended up being, I did a lot of teeth grinding as the trapped tourists try to find a way out of the croc's feeding grounds.
Recommended.
I can really say when i first started to watch this movie i didnt think it was gonna be that great cause of all the other crocodile people in danger movies out there like Primevil for one but this one did surprise me by not being that bad. The film starts with a group of tourists on a sight seeing river tour when they see flares in the distance they go to help and come face to face with a huge crocodile worth checking out as this one does cut above the rest out there
What a surprise...this was good! I like these "Monster/Creature" movies and usually they are so lala, but this one was really well done. This creater needs to be watched closely. The story was good, I liked the Cast and the overall execution was really impressive. kudos!
Well it was pretty good I must say careful don't go into the water there might be somthing bigger then you waiting for ya then oh lunch time ya it was almost as good as lake placid

very funny start with Stephen Curry with his camra and great ending to it i loved the movie
very good but very intresting movie, isnt'it? but i have to see it first!
As an Aussie you are constantly surrounded by animals that could quite easily kill you if they really wanted to. Rogue tries to cash in on that fact by blending our natural awareness of the crocodiles in the local river with a silly giant monster movie feel. Its grip on success is shaky.
