More accurately, the first two acts deserve a 5 out of 5. The third act, maybe a 3. It really took a nose dive there. Anyhow, this is still an amazing film. My favorite Batman film to date. Ledger is great. I know everyone is saying that, and many are saying that simply because of his death. However, his Alan Moore's The Killing Joke version of The Joker is exactly what I wanted. Nicholson did a good job, yes, but he was cartoon-y. He was crazy in the way that a "i'm slashing prices" used car salesman calls himself crazy. Ledger's Joker is truly fucked (SEE the "where did the pencil go? " scene) That being said, the supporting cast is what makes this movie. Eckhart is solid, Gyllenhaal is an definite improvement, Oldman is starting to shape into my definitive Jim Gordon (that being the one from the animated series), and Michael Caine IS Alfred. I love Christian Bale, however...ugh...he is the weakest part. His Bruce Wayne is great, but that Batman voice is awful. Since when did Tom Waits start moonlighting as The Dark Knight? I'm ragging on a lot of things, but I did love this film. The first two hours (yes, there is more after that) are pitch-perfect: the sense of menace always rearing its head through the sound of a weakly, moaning violin, always warning of the Joker's presence.

    SPOILERS!!!

Dent becomes Two-Face. Not a real spoiler, but you never know. Eckhart did all right. I didn't love him as Two-Face, but he did what he could. It might have been better without such haggard makeup. I mean, he looked half-zombie. He was scary and mental, just how he should have been. However when Two-Face was on the screen, I found myself drawn to the makeup and not what he was saying.

Spooky and psychotic. Liked the take on Two-Face (chemical burns are a little cliché these days), didn't like the execution. The eye was so fake as to wreck the effect for me, but I liked the rest.

Fucking loved this movie!!! Now this is how a super hero movie should be done and it even makes up for how terrible the batman movies were before the reboot... well it almost does. I especially loved the performances of the two villains

The most anticipated movie of 2008. As expected it did not disappoint. Heath's performance was the best of his short lived career/life.

A third installment in Nolan's vision will be difficult to do cuz of all the hype surrounding Ledger's performance. If Nolan feels there is still more story to tell or if he says this is it for the franchise than I'm with him 100%

Truly the greatest movie of the year.Absolutely oustanding.I thought Batman Begins was the best Batman ever but after i watched this oustanding masterpiece,i will dare to say this is the best Batman movie ever made.
I loved it,man, from the beggining to the end.Now this is how a movie should be done and i wasn´t expecting how good this amazing masterpiece would be.Once again,Christian Bale delivers a fine perfomance as the Dark Knight and he ´s good as always. His perfomance was truly great, showing a more darker and tortured Batman.t(He´s the real Batman,by the way). But there´s no doubt that the late great Heath Ledger is the star and the biggest atraction of the movie. His perfomance as the Joker is one of the most sadistic and briliant portrayal i ve ever seen in years.God,i can´t find words for his perfomance. He impressed me a lot, man. He shows a Joker like we have never seen before:a dangerous ,maniacal and phsycotic criminal who doesn´t give a fuck about the money and also takes Batman to the limit.Dude, fuck Nicholson.Ledger gives here his finest perfomance and no one will beat him.(Rip). And of course the rest of the cast were amazing including Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent aka Two Face and the lovely Maggie Gyllenhall.Christopher Nolan created a great masterpiece even more intense and dramatic than Begins.

The Dark Knight is the best movie of 2008 and i can´t wait to own it on DVD.

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

Amazing Film, disturbing, and quite possibly the Best Batman Film ever. At first I wasn't sure about seeing it, I was fiercely loyal to Jack Nicholson, but Ledger was incredible. Was long, but every part was essential.

the best film of the summer 2008. this is not the first time The Joker has been in a Batman film, The Joker was in the 1989 film which starred Jack Nicholson as The Joker and it was directed by Tim Burton.

The Dark Knight is about Batman and Gordon find alliance with a newly appointed DA Harvey Dent to stop a vicious killer with a warped sense of humor known only as The Joker, a threat to both the good, and the evil of Gotham City. The Dark Knight stars Christian Bale,Heath Ledger,Aaron Eckhart,Michael Caine,Maggie Gyllenhaal,Gary Oldman,Morgan Freeman,Monique Curnen,Ron Dean and Eric Roberts.

The Dark Knight might well be the best film of 2008. The dark Knight follows up the story after Batman Begins. we all know Heath Ledger is dead now but still i think that The Dark Knight is his greatest ever film performance.

The Dark Knight is Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and some menace. i wouldn't call this film an 12A i would call this a 15 and for some good reasons. maybe they made this film a 12A is so that they can get more reviews. this is a masterpeice of a film. Highly Recommended!

Once again Chris Nolan has created a masterpiece of cinema.

This story took his first installment of Batman and made it even greater, combining it with the nemesis of the Joker played freakishly well by Heath Ledger.

Alright, ya'll! I went to the 12:01 am premere with a friend, then went to the 11:45 am show with my bro. I have to tell ya'll, ive never ever seen a movie like this before. I mean a movie with a great story, great suspense & action and with great outstanding actors. The one actor that i was shocked see'n on this movie was heath ledger. When i had heard that he was starring in this, especially as The Joker i just wasn't feel'n it. I tell ya'll when i saw this movie for the 1st time at the premere, i just couldn't believe that heath actually pulled the joker act off. He was outstanding, amazing and just great. One thing i liked about his acting was his voice. He sounded just like the joker from the cartoon; which was sooooooo awesome. Well, since Christopher Nolan isn't go'n to bring the joker back in the next sequel, i'd have to say that Heath Ledger is and will always be the best joker. The other actors that really did great in this film was of course one of my best/outstanding actors; which is Christian Bale. He is and will always be the best batman. You don't see him much as Bruce Wayne, which i think is good cause this sequel is called The Dark Knight. The batman in this film, Nolan changed a whole lot from batman begins. In The Dark Knight this batman is very intelligent and really uses awesome combat moves on criminals. Another favorite actor of mine is Morgan Freeman. He was AWESOME! He has to be the best inventor ive ever seen on a movie. He should get the best inventor of 2008 award. His inventions are sooo tight. One thing that was really cool that he changed inside the batmobile was the batpod. Oh Man! Just like comissioner gordan said from batman begins; "Ive gotta get me one of those. Dude! That batpod has all kinds of awesome weapons built into it. Like;rocket launchers, and these cool gadgets that batman used to flip the tractor trailer over that the joker was in. Thanx all to Mr. Fox played by Morgan Freeman. Alright, the next best actor was Harvey Dent played by Aaron Eckart. I was shocked at 1st, but see'n his acting was outstanding. I wasn't really familiar with his acting, but after done watch'n the film it simply amazed me. He was just right for the part, especially when he became two-face. I'd say he was the worst vicious killer in this. He shot and killed alot of people cause mostly every time he flips his coin it lands on tails. Im not go'n to give the biggest suspense part away, but i will tell u that their is one scene that is very tragic. I just hated it, cause it was sooo mean & ugly and that person didn't deserve it. I just didn't see it coming. This is far as i go about tell'n u about this film. I can go on & on, but im not go'n to. I don't wanna ruin it for anybody that hasn't seen it yet. I want them to be surprised and have an awesome time watch'n this entertaining film on the big screen. Please! Ya'll!!! Don't miss The Dark Knight. It is definetly worth you're money. Trust Me!

Third time is a charm!! I wondered if I would like it as much, and I did!!! This time I really savored ever word. It was really loaded more than I realized because the first couple of times I could not focus on them as much being memorized by Health's performance and Nolan's interpretation of The Joker. Brilliant.

Even better at IMAX, seeing it for a second time. A visual feast for the eyes and body. I got a little queasy, which is a good thing, during the rooftop scenes.

Awesome fun watching Heath, like a memorial, it was an honor.

"Nolan and crew have created something close to a masterpiece."

Kept me engaged the whole move. Loved it.

I'm sorry to say it up-front but I think "The Dark Knight" is the most over-rated movie of the year. Well, I don't object to the fact that it's a wonderful superhero movie, but a movie in general? Well, I don't know for sure. Certainly, the visual effects, the Batman gadgets and the villains are wonderful, but I left the cinema feeling it didn't live up to my expectations.

I just want to say something about the villains. Maybe Heath Ledger's performance received critical acclaim all over, but let not deny the fact that the thing happened at January surely had an effect on this. It doesn't mean that I don't acknowledge his performance (and honestly, I was quite impressed), but I don't like the way it was hyped up everywhere. Personally, I prefer Harvey Dent/Two-Face, although he was shadowed by Joker. If Batman is the hero and Joker is the villain, Two-Face, like his name, is a bittersweet mixture of those two, a fallen "white knight" who was so blinded by hatred that he forgot the idealism he's been after. In fact, I was quite sympathetic with Harvey Dent/Two-Face, thanks to the superb performance of Aaron Eckhart.

Anyway, I enjoyed the 2 hours and a half I spent at the cinema for this film. The all-star (?) cast really did give an enjoyable work here, although some of gave wasn't given right credits. If I have to rate this, I give it 3.75/5. It's a magnificent movie for sure, but I don't think it's worth all the hype. In my opinion, if not for some certain things, this movie will receive another light.

I really quite liked this movie. Course after the first one a benchmark was really set for this one, and I do have to admit Heath Ledger did a good job in making quite a freaky joker. Love Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman's (as per usual) acting in this. Highly Recommended!

One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The cinematography was gorgeous, and the underuse of special effects really made the movie more believeable and interesting.
The dialouge and acting was supurb, with acting legends such as Gary Oldman, Sir Miacheal Caine, and the late Health Ledger, how can you go wrong? I was a bit disappointed with Maggie G.'s acting in TDK...it seemed a bit overdone, like she was trying way too hard. Also, Christian Bale's Batman voive is a bit hard to swallow, and can unintentionally seem comedic.
I believe Aaron Eckhart deserves a mention for his rendition of Two-Face because he played the part beautifully. He did the research on his part, and that comes through on screen.

    Wasn't really spectacular.
Movie was so-so, maybe more of a disappointment actually.

It was long, a bit edgy on the entertainment side. I think there could of been less nonsense talk and more storyline talk and it would of been a bit better.

The movie was annoying too, some small roles kept carrying on and on with more nonsense. I lose track and lost interest most of the time. Even the action, it was on mediocre and boring. Slow and long and also over rated. It didn't live up to the crowds hype for me. Sorry.

It's too dark and loud and raunchy for my likings. Modern movies like this being remake are ridiculous and edgy. I do respect Christian Bale's acting ability he was great. But he could of push himself and stride for a better performance then The Dark Knight.

Stunning, visceral, and epic, The Dark Knight destroys the barriers of superhero films of before by stepping away from the conventions of the men-in-tights flick by adopting several different influences from other genres and molds it and crafts it into its own beast. This could be the only way to do superhero movies now. Director Christopher Nolan has really outdone himself here. Not just himself, but everyone else that has made superhero flicks. He doesn't just adapt a comic book, he has created an entire world, one that just happen to involve comic book characters. His take on Batman is the most inspired I've ever seen; getting the character's inner conflicts so right and make them ring so true is incredible.

Christian Bale is great as the Caped Crusader, both communicating the hardships of Bruce Wayne and becoming a intimidating presence as Batman (although his harsh growl is still the lone weak spot in his performance). Thankfully he has an excellent supporting cast who all get their time to shine. Michael Caine is perfect as Alfred, who keeps Bruce from falling from grace and helps him when he just doesn't know what to do, and their banter is fun to watch. Morgan Freeman also shines as Lucius Fox, a mentor of sorts to Wayne who, like in Freeman's best roles, just radiates wisdom. Aaron Eckhart is simply powerful as Harvey Dent, a district attorney who's character arc is one of the most tragic storylines in any movie. Maggie Gyllenhaal & Cillian Murphy unfortunately get the short stick here, as Nolan just doesn't know what to do with either of their characters.

The actor who gets the most mileage out of the increased screen is Gary Oldman as Gotham's Lt. James Gordon. Oldman gets a bigger, juicier role as Gordon, who helps Batman and Dent to try and stop the rise in crime thats plaguing the city. His story arc is compelling to watch

I could say many things about the bold and impressive performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker, but allmovie's Jeremy Wheeler says it best: "His approach to this anarchist embodiment of The Joker is something truly special to behold and easily one of the boldest portrayals in comic-to-screen history".

In Batman Begins, my one big complaint was that the action, while sometimes invigorating, was handled poorly, with the close ups and shaky cam inducing a sense of nausea instead of suspense. He not only fixes these problems, he expands on the overall action. When Batman fights, he takes them in quick succession, using the kind of lyrical poetry unlike nothing I've seen since Bourne Ultimatum. The big explosions don't matter however, as with the best of Nolan's work, a lot of the action is psychological. The movies plot rises to epic status because the characters within it are so compelling. It makes the tragic story resonate more than it probably would have otherwise. Unfortunately, while the action is improved, there are still some hiccups to be found. The big fight between Joker and Batman is rushed and sloppy, making the outcome more than a little anticlimactic. Its also hampered by some confusing techno mumbo jumbo which is one of the few times the film is dictated by fantastic spectacle.

Still, TDK achieves transcendence in a genre where mediocrity has been for the most part acceptable over the past 3 years (see Spider-Man 3). With its virtuoso vision and near avant-garde score from James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer fueling the picture's ever-growing ambition, The Dark Knight stands on its own in a world full of easy entertainment. Like its own crime-fighter, the movie is a symbol that aspires to greater things; where it will lead is anyone's guess.

Mo offense about the movie or anything. It is amazing and truly a masterpiece, but I'm wondering about what happened off the set. When Heath Ledger has the makeup and the suit on for the role as the Joker, I wonder what the cast members and everyone would say or react to him when he's talking to him. Like if he's still in character or he's calm and cool. I mean if you would play the role of one the most terrifying Batman villains ever, and you had to prepare for that role for months, both you and I would go insane. But WOW!!! Heath really outdid himself. He WILL go down in history as "The Best Supporting Actor in The Best Movie Of All Time". Heath Ledger, you are the man.

tis film is one of the main reasons that this has been one of the best years to be a comic fan.i dont like people judging this movie just on heath ledger's performance(which is amazing by the way). there is more to this movie. the story is excellent as it reflects today's society.this goes against a major argument against superhero's "I cant relate to them". this movie makes it very asy to relate. it alos doesn't paint batman as a saint which is good, he is a necessary force in gotham. also interesting to see him try to save the day in daylight as bruce wayne.amazing movie.

heath ledger just left a legacy which will be hard to break for anyone trying to play the villain. His sadistic and creepy twist to the movie just made it genius...and the whole two face drama is worth every penny. Christian Bale and his fantastic cast really pulled it off. And I really respect the fact that they did not kill off the joker but left him hanging in the air to show that the joker still lives..viva for ever
