Teens twitter for 'Twilight' Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Fangirls are intent on turning Summit Entertainment's "Twilight" into the event of the season, with more than 500 Thursday midnight shows sold out, according to online ticketer Fandango. Summit and exhibitors decided to add hundreds of midnight screenings in lieu of Friday's official opening based on demand. The "Twilight" book series is a beloved brand among tween girls and teenage girls. More than 17 million copies of Stephenie Meyer's books have sold nationwide, including 8.5 million copies in the U.S. Observers don't quite know how to gauge "Twilight's" box office potential. Advance ticket sales are outpacing those for Disney's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," which opened to $42 million. In May, "Sex and the City" stunned Hollywood when debuting to $57 million, an unheard of opening gross for a chick pic. Generally speaking, female-skewing titles have modest openings but strong playability. But that tradition is changing. Like "Sex and the City," Disney's "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" and "High School Musical 3" both saw boffo openings on the strength of girls. According to MovieTickets.com, nearly 400 runs of "Twilight" are sold out for the weekend. Of those responding to a Fandango online survey, 65% said it was the love story that appealed to them most, while 18% said it was the vampire aspect. In Westwood on Monday, hundreds of "Twilight" fans camped out to get a glimpse of that night's premiere. How high "Twilight" opens depends on how many teenage boys as well as older women go to see the pic. There are reportedly 8,000 members of fan club "Twilight" Moms. On the foreign front, Summit's going day-and-date in four major markets with launches in Italy, Mexico, Russia and Sweden. Pic will open in a staggered pattern, with most markets rolling out prior to Christmas. London will see a premiere on Dec. 3, ahead of its Dec. 19 launch.
First Look: Sam Rockwell’s Sci-Fi Thriller Moon Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Bloody Disgusting has a first look at Sam Rockwell in the upcoming sci-fi film Moon. Rockwell stars as Sam Bell, an Astronaut who has been mining Helium 3 on the moon three years alone. With only two weeks before he returns home, Sam begins seeing and hearing things. Did I mention that Kevin Spacey provides the voice of the robot? Also, Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain) is doing the score. I’ve included some of the photos above and below, but head on over to BloodyD for the whole batch of photos. I’m a big fan of old school space sci-fi, and photos like this get me very excited. I can’t wait to see a trailer.
DC Comics to Kill-Off Batman Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Just as The Dark Knight closes in on $1 billion worldwide gross, DC Comics is ready to have Bruce Wayne "die" — or at least give up the cape — in his monthly comic, reports USA Today. Batman #681, due November 26th, wraps up writer Grant Morrison's Batman R.I.P. story line, in which the crimefighter is so shaken by a secret from his past that a new Batman must be found. What makes this "death" go beyond the usual circulation booster is the talent involved. Helping to bury Batman will be best-selling novelist Neil Gaiman, who created the goth-cult Sandman comic 20 years ago. Gaiman is writing a two-issue tribute to the character, starting with Batman #686 and tentatively titled "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?," due in February. "This is my last Batman story," he says. "And in some ways, it could be seen as every last Batman story." Working with artist Andy Kubert, Gaiman will try to reconcile the various versions of Batman, some wisecracking, others brooding, over the Dark Knight's 69-year history. "There are infinite Batmans," he says. "It has been really hard on Andy because I keep asking him to draw in so many different styles." DC Comics asked writer Alan Moore, creator of "Watchmen," to similarly wrap up Superman's first half-century with "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" in 1986. The character was retooled shortly thereafter. Do you think DC Comics will resurrect Batman again in the future?

Prince Gay Comments The New Yorker November 2008 Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Prince doesn’t like the gays. Prince is hopping mad over an article in this Sunday’s edition of The New Yorker which allegedly quotes the pop legend making some questionable remarks about the gay community. (This coming from a guy who perms his hair and harbors an unhealthy obsession with all things purple. Perhaps he should reevaluate his entire wardrobe, because several of his outfits just scream “Single twinkie male.”) Prince, who became a Jehovah’s Witness seven years ago, is accused of telling the publication that homosexuality goes against the word of God. When asked about his perspective on social issues—gay marriage, abortion—Prince tapped his Bible and said, “God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.’ ” Well, the “Pink Cashmere” singer says this whole thing is just one big misunderstanding. In fact, a spy close to the star has slammed The New Yorker for taking the star’s comments out of context.
Elijah Wood Wants A Tiny Piece Of ‘The Hobbit’ Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other If it were just based on the book, there would be no room in “The Hobbit” for a lot of the characters from “Lord of the Rings” — except, say, Bilbo, Gandalf, Elrond, and Gollum, of course — but since they’re expanding the film into a larger story, and drawing from other aspects of J.R.R. Tolkien’s tales, Frodo could make an appearance in part two of “The Hobbit,” Elijah Wood told us when we caught up with him at Alicia Keys’ Black Ball benefit for Keep A Child Alive. “The secondary film would bridge the gap between ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ chronologically,” Wood said, “so conceivably, it could be possible.” Since the films are still being written, “it’s a ways away” before he would know, Wood said, but the trick is to have Frodo’s appearance not seem like an anachronism, since he wasn’t a part of “The Hobbit” adventure. “That’s the thing,” Wood said. “I would imagine that if he does exist, it’ll make some sort of sense. Otherwise, I don’t think they would do it. I certainly wouldn’t want to do it. I don’t want to have a whole character piece that doesn’t really exist that they’re cobbling together.” But he has faith in the filmmakers “in whatever they’re going to do in terms of bringing in any familiar characters back, just knowing their sense of upholding integrity.” To us, it seems like the only logical thing would be to introduce Frodo at the very end. Once Bilbo has returned from his adventure, with all his riches, he becomes the most able relative in Frodo’s family to adopt him after his parents Drogo and Primula die in a boating accident on the Brandywine River. Wood agreed. “Yeah, potentially,” he said. “There’s a lot we know historically about the characters where that would make sense. And personally, if I was involved, it would be to come on for a tiny little piece and have that be that.”
Danny Boyle’s ‘Solomon Grundy’ Delayed Due To Perceived ‘Benjamin Button’ Similarities Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Thanks to both overwhelmingly positive responses and its feel-good message, Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” has already been pegged by many prognosticators as an early Oscar favorite, alongside other yet to be released films like “Revolutionary Road” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” But no matter what happens between now and the February Oscar telecast, David Fincher’s “Button” has already gotten the best of Boyle, the director smiled, forcing him to temporarily abandon his previously announced next project. Boyle’s “Solomon Grundy,” based on the popular nursery rhyme character who was “born on a Monday” and “died on a Sunday” (and who bears no relation to the hideous D.C. zombie villain and occasional foe of Superman and Batman), is momentarily shelved, he revealed exclusively to MTV News, because of perceived similarities to “Button,” which follows the life of a man who lives his whole life backwards. “It’s sort of a crossover with ‘Benjamin Button’ only they’ve done it backwards, so it really fell apart because of the competition from that one,” Boyle confessed of the project. “It is a wonderful idea, and it’s got really potential still. Maybe. No one knows what ‘Benjamin Button’ is going to be like, so maybe it won’t be similar to that at all. Maybe it will feel really different to that, so [that ‘Solomon’] might come alive again.” Wiki tells us that the nursery rhyme is a sort of riddle for the seven ages of man, itself a reference to Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” (“All the world’s a stage,” etc etc.) Infancy, childhood, lover, old-age – you get the drift. Color us absolutely intrigued. Would you like to see Boyle tackle “Solomon Grundy” next? Or at all? Or would you prefer he direct, say, the sequel to “28 Days Later”? Do you see the similarities between this story and “Benjamin Button” or is this just studio nonsense? Sound off on your thoughts below.
Twilight’ Star Cam Gigandet Is Having A ‘Five Star Day’ Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other It looks like another “Twilight” star taking another step towards major stardom. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Twilight” baddie Cam Gigandet is set to star in “Five Star Day,” an indie drama directed by Danny Buday. Jena Malone will star opposite him as his girlfriend. Story details are a bit scarce, but it’s as far from the bloodthirsty James as you can get. It’s the story of one man who loses everything, and must come to terms with what is most important in life. It’s all about self-discovery and love — and since he has a girlfriend and a smart best friend, who will be played by Will Yun Lee (”Bionic Woman”), it’s safe to say that he realizes that it’s people, not things, that really matter. Gigandet really looks to be a break-out star of “Twilight.” Not only is he keeping his indie credibility with movies like these, he just wrapped “The Unborn” and “Pandorum” with Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster. So while he won’t be appearing as a vampire in any “Twilight” sequels, fans won’t have to worry — it looks like he’ll have a long life in film ahead of him. “Twilight” fans, are you happy to see Gigandet land so many roles? Or do you prefer the “Twilight” baddies to vanish altogether, and the Cullens to get all the big parts?
Angelina Smiles With Brad but Gets Sad About Her Mom Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt stepped out side-by-side in London today for a Changeling photocall. Angelina opened up a bit about her mother during the press conference, a subject that got her choked up (check out the video after the jump). She said, "She was really sweet and was never angry — she couldn't swear to save her life. But when it came to her kids, she was really fierce and so this is very much her, her story. She was the woman I related to, who had that elegance and strength through just knowing what was right." Angelina also said that there are more kids on the way and that she spent most of the past year "in pajamas and coloring." Things will probably only get busier for the Jolie-Pitts as Brad continues filming Inglorious Bastards and starts promoting The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but so far it looks like he and Angelina are doing a good job meeting up all over the world.

'Wallace & Gromit' pair locked out of Oscars Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Nick Park has revealed that he and Wallace And Gromit star Peter Sallis almost missed out on collecting the Best Animated feature Oscar for Curse Of The Were-Rabbit. The pair attended the 2006 Los Angeles ceremony but found themselves locked out of the Kodak Theatre with Mickey Rooney. "We went to the loo just before our award was announced," Park explained. "We actually got locked out and they wouldn't let us back in. I was panicking with the door person, trying [to get him] to let us in - Peter was having a good chat with Mickey Rooney, who was also locked out." Sallis said that Rooney enquired about doing voice work in a future Wallace And Gromit instalment, while Park confirmed that another actor had asked to lend his vocal talents to Aardman Animation. Park said: "Mark Hamill from Star Wars, we met him actually. His agent said he's very keen on doing voices." Speaking about his experience at the Academy Awards, Sallis said: "I was thrilled, I've always been an Oscar fan. I love the girls, the actresses, who are in tears and thank their mummy and their daddy and the chap who looked after their dog. Just to be there was really lovely." New Wallace And Gromit adventure A Matter Of Loaf And Death airs this Christmas on BBC One.
Ledger, Mirren almost cast in 'Choke' Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Chuck Palahniuk has revealed that Heath Ledger was almost cast in the movie adaptation of his novel Choke. Ledger, who died of an accidental drug overdose in January, was among the actors in line to play sex addict Victor Mancine in Clark Gregg's dark comedy before the role eventually went to Sam Rockwell. Palahniuk confessed that the actors who were circling the role prior to Rockwell's casting did not appeal to him. He said: "For a long time it was supposed to be Ryan Gosling, who I couldn't see, and for a brief period of time it was supposed to be Heath Ledger, which I wasn't sure about. And so in a way I think it's turned out for the very best." Palahniuk added that casting Victor's mother Ida Mancini became difficult when Helen Mirren won an Oscar for The Queen. He explained: "It's the same with the mother character... for a while it was Susan Sarandon and then for a little tiny bit it was Helen Mirren. But then with The Queen, apparently her price went way up and they couldn't afford her anymore! "But I was very happy with Angelica Huston because I don't think the other two would have looked very Italian." Choke is released in cinemas this Friday.
Sutherland 'ready' to make '24' film Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Rex Features Kiefer Sutherland has revealed that he has been "ready for years" for 24 to be made into a feature film. The actor was speaking at a Beverly Hills event held to celebrate a two-hour special of the series which was filmed in Africa and will air in both the UK and US next week. "I've been ready for years," Sutherland said, before cautioning that a film may still be some time in the making. "I think from the writers' perspective it's so hard to get through a season and the second we end they start on the next one, but I certainly hope we will one day because I would love to tackle the idea of a 24-hour day represented in a two-hour film," he said. Executive producer and director Jon Cassar revealed that he is not ruling it out as an option, saying: "There's always talk, but we probably have to wait until the television show is over and then deal with a feature film." The show's seventh series is scheduled to begin in the UK in the New Year, while two-hour special 24: Redemption will air November 23 in the US and November 24 in the UK.
George Clooney's in Uniform But They Aren't Scrubs Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other George Clooney was back on the set of Men Who Stare at Goats but this time he's not shirtless in Puerto Rico, he's in army fatigues in Albuquerque. He's still sporting the stache that many of you think Brad is more attractive with and this time George adds even more hair to the mix with a wig. He may be one of the hottest eligible bachelors but he still might not get sexy in his old scrubs. Same goes for his old co-star, Julianna Margulies who confirmed she won't return to ER.
Celebrate Christmas With The Spirit Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Christmas may seem like a strange time to see a superhero movie, but The Spirit is embracing its holiday release date. Lionsgate has just sent us a new, Christmas themed trailer for the Frank Miller film. Adapted from the original graphic novel by Will Eisner, The Spirit is the story of a former rookie-cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as The Spirit (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. Be ready to join The Spirit under the mistletoe in theaters on December 25th, and watch the new Christmas-themed trailer below:
Five Star Day Gets A Twilighter Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Five Star Day is getting two hot young actors. According to HR, Cam Gigandet (Twilight) and Jena Malone (The Ruins, Donnie Darko) will team up in this indie drama as a couple. Gigandet’s character is a man who loses everything and must take a journey of self-discovery. By his side throughout this quest is a girlfriend (Malone) and his wise best friend who’ll be played by Will Yun Lee (Bionic Woman). Sounds very typical in terms of a youth drama, so it’ll be exciting to get a better sense of the film’s potential as more of the plot is revealed. Malone's a known quantity, but it's not until the release of Twilight on the 21st, that we’ll get to see what Gigandet is capable of, beyond his role in Never Back Down. All three stars have a lot on their schedule. Gigandet, of course, has Twilight followed by the horror flick The Unborn and the sci-fi adventure Pandorum in which he stars alongside Ben Foster and Dennis Quaid. Speaking of Ben Foster, Jena Malone is also costarring in a film with him called The Messenger about a soldier who becomes involved with the widow of another officer. On Yun Lee’s plate is King of Fighters, an indie feature based on the video game.

Breaking: Batman Retires Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other USA Today has a first look at Batman #681, due out November 26th, which concludes Grant Morrison’s Batman R.I.P storyline, where Bruce Wayne decides to retire from crime fighting after being shaken by a secret from his past. Neil Gaiman (Sandman, Beowulf) is penning a two-issue tribute to the character titled Whatever Happend to the Caped Crusader, starting with issue #686 (due in February). The two issue arc will be some sort of retrospective of Batman’s history, and according to the article, Gaiman will attempt “to reconcile the various versions of Batman, some wisecracking, others brooding, over the Dark Knight’s 69-year history.” I’m not sure exactly what that means but Gaiman says that it has been hard on artist Andy Kubert, who has been asked to draw in so many different styles. Some might remember that DC Comics asked Watchmen creator Alan Moore to Superman’s first half-century with Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? in 1986, right before the character was retooled. I would expect the same to happen to Batman. I’m predicting that DC Comics new caped crusader will be more along the lines of Christopher Nolan’s version of the Dark Knight.
Race to Witch Mountain Movie Trailer Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Disney has released the first trailer for Race to Witch Mountain. It’s easy to immediately discount any kids film (outside of the Pixar-animated movies), but I actually think Witch Mountain looks like disposable fun. Kinda like the kid flicks from the 1980’s. And that might just be the echos of my fond childhood memories of Escape to Witch Mountain, a film this is based on. Please, tell me what you think in the comments below. Official Plot Synopsis: Race to Witch Mountain is a thrilling action-adventure about a hard luck Las Vegas cab driver Jack Bruno (DWAYNE JOHNSON), whose life is thrown into chaos when apparent ‘runaway’ teenagers Sara (ANNASOPHIA ROBB) and Seth (ALEXANDER LUDWIG) jump into his taxi. He soon realizes his two fares are children with exceptional paranormal powers whom he must protect as they elude a collection of ruthless enemies. Watch the trailer in HD on Yahoo. Race to Witch Mountain hits theaters on March 13th 2009.

Hugh Jackman Forced to Bulk up For Wolverine Role Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Hugh Jackman went to exasperating lengths to bulk up for his role as mutant superhero Wolverine. The Aussie actor, 40, was put on an extreme protein diet to build up his muscle and had to wake up at 4am every morning to scoff egg whites. He reveals, "I was working out like I always did but I would get up at 4am to have egg whites and dry toast. I did it for about a week and then I got sick of them so I had protein shakes instead. "I was a very sad figure. I would very slowly put my legs out of the bed and have a pre-made shake by the bed. I would shake it about three times then go back to sleep. It was not a good look."

'Alien' mom Sigourney Weaver Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Sigourney Weaver says starring in the 'Alien' films helped her prepare for motherhood. The 59-year-old actress - who plays tough heroine Ellen Ripley in the sci-fi movie franchise - says the role gave her perspective on raising children. Sigourney said: "Those films helped me see what a complex role in life that was. I've been drawn to women who have to grapple with things coming at them and at the same time keep very steady for their children." The star - whose 18-year-old daughter Charlotte is now in college - also revealed she is often attracted to roles where she can use her maternal instincts. She added to the USA Today newspaper: "I am drawn to women who don't fit in. Some of them happen to be mothers." Earlier this year, Sigourney said she would be keen to reprise her 'Alien' role if director Ridley Scott - who helmed the first in the series - was on board. She said: "I would definitely do another if I had a director like Ridley Scott and we had a good idea. Ridley is enthusiastic about it."
Discuss: Does the World Really Need 'Little Fockers'? Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other When bad movie ideas hit the wire and then seemingly dissolve into thin air, there's a chance to breathe that sigh of relief over what could have happened, but didn't. Unfortunately, sometimes months or even years later, we're slapped with the news that silence doesn't necessarily mean death, and that our worst nightmares are coming true. Fox News has "released" word that a sequel to Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers is happening. We already knew that was the case, since it was confirmed last year, but the news piece does add to it -- Blythe Danner and Robert De Niro are returning. This means that last year's news wasn't a dream, and that Ben Stiller hasn't forgotten about it, no matter what other projects he is busying himself with. We are getting more Fockers. We just don't know if Babs and Dustin are in for the ride as well. Not that it matters. There are those that love the original, and those who actually like the sequel more, but can't we all agree that a third installment is pushing it. I mean, what're they going to do? Have Gaylord actually try milking a cat for his kid? Do any of you actually want to see that? Are you eager for more Focker hijinx?
Alyson Hannigan mocks Gwen Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Alyson Hannigan has mocked Gwen Stefani for calling her son Zuma. The former 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' actress - who recently revealed she is expecting her first child with husband Alexis Denisof - insists she has no intention of giving her firstborn an unusual name like Gwen. When asked what she is planning to call her baby, Alyson replied: "I don't know yet, but definitely not Zuma! That is taken!" Alyson, 34, also revealed she is finding it difficult to contain her excitement ahead of the birth next spring. She added to Usmagazine.com: "I'm not very patient, and it's hard to wait! I'm excited, very excited!" The redheaded beauty is enjoying being famous and pregnant, because companies have already started sending her gifts to help prepare her for her impending arrival. She said: "I've been very fortunate because people are already sending things so they're doing the job for me! Pea in the Pod sent me my first maternity top, but, right now, I'm just wearing an empire waist - anything to disguise the little tummy!"
Poll: How Much Will 'Twilight' Make This Weekend? Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other The week you Twilight fans have been waiting for has finally arrived, and in just a few days from now entire worlds will collide! Yup, I'm talking about civilized people who decided to skip on over to see Quantum of Solace in its second week versus TWILIGHT FANS GALORE! Tons of screaming pre-teen girls and their equally-as-obsessed mothers storming movie theaters across the country, demanding their Bella, their Edward ... their blood! We kid, but it's always fun to ponder how well a hotly-anticipated film will do in its opening weekend. Could Twilight beat Quantum of Solace's $70 million take? Is that even possible? Or does the Twilight fanbase appear larger than it really is? When it's all said and done, what if Twilight fails to top $40 million in its opening weekend? Would that be considered a failure? And if not, what would be considered a failure? If Twilight doesn't meet a certain number at the box office this weekend, could those three Twilight sequels currently in development be in jeopardy? So many questions, so many different possibilities -- how well do you think Twilight will do this weekend?
Discuss: The New 'Star Trek' Trailer is Now Online! Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Over the weekend, the new full-length Star Trek trailer debuted in front of Quantum of Solace, as well as in shoddy bootlegged form over on YouTube. Thankfully, Paramount has finally debuted that sucker online in glorious HD, and you can check it out over on Apple right now. Go ahead ... we'll wait here. Since I've never been a hardcore Trek fan (or Trekkie, or Trekker, or TrekWTF), I can't pinpoint all the little things this trailer either gets right or wrong regarding the Trek mythology. I will say, though, that it looks to have all the makings of a big, exciting summer blockbuster and I'm sure audiences will devour it come May. Later on this evening, Cinematical will be joining Trek director J.J. Abrams for a very special presentation of footage from the new film, so we'll definitely be back to let you know how it looks, feels, sounds, etc ... And if there's anything specific you'd like us to try to ask Abrams, let us know in the comments. In the meantime, feel free to sound off on the new trailer below. Is this what you expected? And are you more excited or less excited about the film after watching this preview? Star Trek arrives in theaters on May 8, 2009.
Get Ready for the 'War Monkeys'!!! Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other It was last August when I first heard the phrase "WAR MONKEYS," and I've been waiting for fresh news ever since. Yes, seriously. Now it comes, courtesy of Shock, and the news is this: War Monkeys will be directed by Kevin Munroe, which thrills me not because I necessarily loved Munroe's last movie (TMNT), but because a production company doesn't sign a director unless the movie is actually being made. Which means that WAR MONKEYS is being made. That's awesome. Munroe told Shock that Cleve Nettles' script is sort of like "Quentin Tarantino's Gremlins," which is a description that makes my salivary glands kick in. But wait, there's more! It's also "an older, meaner brother of [an] Amblin [production]. It's real horror with real scary elements. You've got real monsters here with the monkeys. But the characters are a modern day Abbott and Costello. In the same vein of Shaun of the Dead but scarier." And in case you thought the title was a joke of some kind ... it's not. The movie is about two guys trapped underground with a gang of furious, military-trained rhesus monkeys who are mega-smart and weapon-trained. I wish this movie could come out tomorrow.
Spears drops 'Sweet Baby Jesus' role Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Plans for Britney Spears to play the Virgin Mary in upcoming comedy Sweet Baby Jesus have apparently been put on hold due to a family row. The singer pulled out after being put under pressure by her family over the part, reports WENN. Producer Philippe Rebboah said: "Britney read the script and liked it. She really wanted to play the role of Mary. But people were against it and she was pressured. "Then she ran into trouble with her family so we decided the timing wasn't right," he said. The decision comes after the 26-year-old cancelled plans to duet with Madonna on November 26.

Hugh Jackman: 'I wet myself on stage' Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Hugh Jackman has revealed that he once wet himself while singing in a musical. The X Men star said he was suffering from dehydration before a performance of Beauty And The Beast and had consumed a lot of water to combat a headache. However, when he reached the stage, he realised that he needed the bathroom and would not be able to control himself once he hit a high note. He told Playboy: "I was like: 'Bloody hell, I need to go again.' I thought: 'If I sing this note, I'm going to pee my pants; if I don't, I'm going to be humiliated.' The actor in me took over. I was singing, thinking: 'Wow, I'm peeing my pants.' "When I finished, I immediately turned upstage, looked down and couldn't see anything. I thought: 'These red tights must be waterproof.' "I was laughing as if I had gotten away with it, but the audience was looking at me funny. It had seeped through and my pants were completely wet. The audience could see it." The actor also recalled an encounter with an overzealous fan, saying: "Once during The Boy From Oz a woman ran down to the front of the stage while I was doing the show. She said: 'Hugh, I've always wanted to do this,' and lifted her top. "I said: 'I'm glad you got that off your chest.'"

'Sopranos' actor on trial in NYPD cop slaying Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Lillo Brancato Jr. was a young actor with a solid resume: He made his debut in 1993 in "A Bronx Tale" opposite Robert De Niro, went on to appear in more than a dozen movies and played a doomed mobster wannabe in HBO's "The Sopranos." Now, however, at the age of 32, Brancato faces charges of second-degree murder and other crimes in the 2005 killing of police Officer Daniel Enchautegui. Jury selection for his trial begins Monday. Brancato's real-life troubles began not long after he befriended Steven Armento, a reputed low-level Genovese crime family associate banished for drug addiction, prosecutors say. Then his life went into a tailspin with a pair of drug-related arrests and the death of Enchautegui. Brancato drove himself and Armento to the home of Enchautegui's next-door neighbor and the pair broke in to steal prescription drugs, prosecutors said. When they were confronted by Enchautegui, who was off duty, Armento shot the officer. Brancato and Armento were both wounded. Armento, 48, was convicted of first-degree murder Oct. 30 and was sentenced last week to life in prison without parole. Brancato's attorney, Joseph Tacopina, said his client's case is very different. "Lillo didn't have a gun. Nor did he know anyone had a gun. Lillo was shot. Lillo wasn't burglarizing anyone's home," he said. Family and friends of Brancato have said he was a good guy with a drug problem who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. "He obviously had problems he kept well hidden, but that doesn't mean he should be held accountable for the actions of the man he was with, especially if that man was under the influence," former "Sopranos" castmate Chris Tardio wrote in an e-mail. Jurors in Armento's trial rejected prosecution arguments that he knew Enchautegui was a police officer, declining to convict him of first-degree murder of an officer. He was instead found guilty of first-degree murder while committing a felony. Brancato's attorney says he's not criminally responsible for the shooting. "We're looking forward, after three long years, for Lillo to get his day in court," Tacopina said. "It's a tragic case, it's tragic in a lot of ways. But that doesn't mean he's behind the crime." Tardio wrote of the slain officer: "One life was already ruined. The jury will have the power to prevent that of another."
Angelina Jolie to Quit Acting Again Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Angelina Jolie has once again revealed plans to quit acting to concentrate on raising her family. The 33-year-old star has six children with Brad Pitt, including four-month-old twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, a daughter named Shiloh and adopted siblings Maddox, Zahara and Pax. She was interviewed by the BBC while promoting her new film, "Changeling," directed by Clint Eastwood. When asked in the interview whether she thought the possibility of her looks fading could affect a lengthy career, Jolie said: "I don't think about it much because I don't plan to keep acting very long." Laughing, she continued: "I'm ready to do a few things now and fade away and get ready to be a grandma one day. So I'm not so worried that I want to keep this pace up and try to be something and be a celebrity and be a successful actress forever. I think it's nice, I've had a time to tell stories and be able to be successful enough to tell the ones I want to tell, and (to) earn some money at the same time is great. But everything comes in seasons and, you know, I hopefully won't be needing to do that later in my life in any way." But Jolie would not rule out returning to work for interesting projects. "I don't think I'll ever say I'm never ever going to work because maybe there's that interesting project where I feel creative - but certainly I think now I haven't worked for a year." "I'll work for a few months in February. I won't work again probably for another year. So maybe it'll be once a year and maybe it'll be once every three years and just naturally - I like being home a lot these days." Do you care if Angelina quits acting?
Kiefer Sutherland on "24: The Movie" Status Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Kiefer Sutherland has revealed that he's desperate to make "24" into a movie. The actor was speaking at a special event in Beverly Hills celebrating a two-hour special of the show which airs next week. Sutherland said he was definitely up for bringing the hit action show to the big screen. "I've been ready for years," he said. But he added that making the show itself had made it hard to find time to make a movie. "I think from the writers' perspective it's so hard to get through a season and the second we end they start on the next one, but I certainly hope we will one day because I would love to tackle the idea of a 24 hour day represented in a two hour film," he said. Sutherland wasn't the only interested in turning the show into a feature film. Executive producer and director Jon Cassar said he was not ruling it out as an option. "There's always talk," he explained. "But we probably have to wait until the television show is over and then deal with a feature film." Are you looking forward to a "24" feature film?
Robert De Niro Talks "I Heard You Paint Houses" Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Robert De Niro has spoken about teaming up with legendary director Martin Scorsese for the ninth time - on a mobster drama called "I Heard You Paint Houses." The actor will play hitman Frank Sheeran in the film which is being adapted from Charles Brandt's book. "That is something that Marty (Scorsese) and I, we want to do very much," said De Niro. "Steve Zallian at this point is writing the script and we have an even more ambitious plan of doing another movie connected to it in some way with Eric Roth hopefully writing that script, so that is very much planned to be done." Steve Zallian wrote the script for "Schindler's List" and "Gangs of New York," while Eric Roth penned "Forest Gump." De Niro has worked with Scorsese before on "Mean Streets," "Taxi Driver," "New York New York," "Raging Bull," "The King Of Comedy", "Goodfellas," "Cape Fear" and "Casino."
Rant: Americans Believe They're Under Attack By Hollywood Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other For anyone who thought that electing a black man president might mean America was on its way to growing up, overcoming petty bigotry, backbiting, and ignorance here’s a splash of cold water. According to a survey done by the Anti-Defamation League 61% of Americans believe religious values are under attack by Hollywood. A Hollywood which 22% agree is “pretty much run by Jews”. The solution to this problem according to 40% of them, is to start banning “dangerous ideas” from libraries. That’s right, America’s ready for a good old-fashioned book burning. There has been some improvement. Back in 1964 fully half of respondents thought that the Jews were out to get them. Go us, we’re slightly less prone to becoming Nazis. Unfortunately, we still haven’t gotten over blaming our problems on other people. It’s the TV that made your husband cheat on you, not the fact that you haven’t seen the inside of a gym in 10 years. It’s the goddamn movies that turned your kid atheist, not the Catholic priest who molested him behind the pulpit after choir practice. Apparently, Obama or no, we’re still a nation of half-crazed conspiracy theorists who refuse to take responsibility for our actions because it’s easier to scream and moan about entertainment. That guy on the TV just said he doesn’t like the Pope! They’re trying to take away Jesus! We’ve got to stop them! Shoot the artists! I’m sure that’s what Jesus would do. It’s definitely what the 49% of us who believe America is becoming “too tolerant in its acceptance of different ideas and lifestyles” would do. This really shouldn’t be a surprise. These are the people who voted for Prop 8 in California a few weeks ago, these are the people who bitched and moaned over the posters for Zack and Miri Make a Porno. These are the people who live in the “Real America” and find their own lives so unfulfilling, that they must waste time and energy meddling in and controlling the lives of others. I don’t know how they find the time to bother looking over my shoulder, personally after a hard days work I wouldn’t have the energy for it. I guess when you’re motivated by fear, you run on adrenaline. These are people who live their entire lives in fear, who thrive on ignorance. They’ll do anything in the name of keeping things the same. They want to oversee what you read, what you think, what you say, what you do, and who you marry. They want to make your decisions for you. Make you think the way they do. Just don’t take away their guns. It’s the American thing to do. The good news here is that this book-burning American majority seems unwilling to put its money where its mouth is. Rated-R movies still make big money at the box office, they’re still showing up in droves. Everybody loves to bitch about something, and Hollywood is a favorite target for anyone given the opportunity to rant. This survey gave them an opportunity to rant and they did. It’s my hope that at least some of them, probably don’t really mean it. You may not find them buying a ticket for Religulous, but you’ll still see them sitting beside you at the next Quentin Tarantino flick. Here’s a full breakdown of the Anti-Defamation League’s findings. Read and despair even more over there: • 61% of Americans say they believe that "Religious values are under attack in this country," while 36% disagree with that statement (graph). 59% agree that "the people who run the TV networks and the major movie studios do not share the religious and moral values of most Americans." And 43% hold the view that Hollywood and the national media are waging an organized campaign to "weaken the influence of religious values in this country."
International Trailer For Soderbergh's Che Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other One of our friends over in the UK dropped us a copy of the international trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Che. The movie, much like the man it profiles has received mixed reactions when it’s been shown at festivals. The trailer however looks epic. This would appear to be a trailer focused primarily on part one of Soderbergh’s Che Guevara biopic, though it uses the title being applied to both films collectively: Che. Che will however still be released as two films. The first is The Argentine and the second is Guerrilla. Watch the trailer below:
McQuarrie Is United Artist's Champion Nov 17, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Tom Cruise's United Artists is apparently feeling pretty good about Valkyrie. Even though the Hitler-killin' movie was getting terrible early buzz and hasn't even been released yet, the movie's screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie has already been drafted for two new projects at the studio. McQuarrie, who also wrote the classic The Usual Suspects, will write and produce both The Monster of Florence and The Champions, projects that UA had already lined up. Variety reports that Monster will be a producing collaboration between McQuarrie, Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, while The Champions has the ever-prolific Guillermo del Toro signed on as a writer and producer. The Monster of Florence, which we wrote about back at the beginning of September in more detail, is a pretty amazing-sounding crime thriller about a real-life Italian serial killer. And The Champions is about as different from that as you can get-- an adaptation of a British TV series about a group of secret agents who are rescued from a plane crash by aliens and given superhuman powers. McQuarrie will have his hands full with such vastly different projects, particularly for a studio on the brink like UA. But teaming up with talent like del Toro, Jinks and Cohen should only help him out, and both stories sound just bizarre enough to be completely amazing.
Miley Cyrus Is Dead! (According To Hackers) Nov 17, 2008 pete12345999 Other The YouTube channel 'mileymandy', which is the official account of Miley Cyrus and her giant hair her friend Mandy Jiroux, was attacked by a hacker, who uploaded a video clip claiming that the Hannah Montana star had died. The video, allegedly a message from Jiroux, said: "Hey guys, this is Mandy and I have some very sad news :( We're hurt to tell everyone this, but Miley died this morning after being hit by a drunk driver. Miley told us if anything ever happened to her then we should let her fans know first before the public. R.I.P honey, we miss you so much." The video was posted here, but is apparently gone now. See, this is what happens when you wake up after 3am. Jiroux later went on to her Myspace page to clarify things, saying that "Someone hacked the Miley and Mandy YouTube account and we can't get back into it just yet!! MILEY IS OK!!" Fortunately this rumor didn't spread too far past the 8-year-old girls and lonely pedophiles who are the primary audience for this YouTube channel.
Snoop Dogg Flees As California Wildfires Rage On Nov 17, 2008 pete12345999 Other Snoop Dogg was one of many to have to evacuate their homes as wildfires raged in four different counties in Southern California this weekend. CNN reports that over 700 homes have been destroyed and 35,000 acres have been scorched. And the fires are still raging! Snoop had to flee his Diamond Bar Ranch residence with his family and entourage, but sent some of his dog(g)s back to recover possessions and memorabilia. There's a "save my most expensive bong, yo" joke in there somewhere but 700 homes is no joke. Fire officials are also saying that the fire in Montecito which threatened the homes of Oprah Winfrey, Rob Lowe, Kevin Costner and other celebrities is reportedly "suspicious". We see you, Gayle King!
Three New “Benjamin Button” Posters Nov 17, 2008 soundfood Other A new posters for the upcoming “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, have been released.
Early Buzz: Benjamin Button - IndieWire is Unimpressed, Variety Predicts Fincher’s First Academy Nom Nov 17, 2008 pete12345999 Other IndieWire’s Eugene Hernandez has seen David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and admits “that Benjamin Button is, on first viewing, hardly a lock for best picture,” but that “the attention that will justifiably be paid to its considerable technological achievements could sweep it into the higher profile categories.” For example, Forrest Gump (also written by Eric Roth) was popular with the Academy because of the film’s technical achievements. Hernandez encourages readers to watch WALL-E again “for a much more striking and beautiful marriage of technology and ideas”. Meanwhile, Variety’s Robert Abele calls the film “an effects-laden but character-driven epic that recalls the sweetly doomed, emotional glamour of Hollywood’s golden era.” Abele claims that Button has “a chance at a category-sweeping juggernaut, with Fincher on track to score his first Academy nomination.”

The Rock Races to 'Witch Mountain' in New Trailer Nov 17, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other From the star, director and studio behind The Game Plan comes... another movie pairing up Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson with kids! Okay, this one -- Race to Witch Mountain, a remake of Disney's own Escape to Witch Mountain from 1975 -- seems a fair bit more tolerable than that one was, as cab driver Johnson is forced to team up with UFO expert Carla Gugino on an unexpected mission to get two unique children (AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig) to the above-mentioned location of their spaceship. A couple of things should be said for the trailer, which we've included after the jump. 1. There is an unavoidable watermark on it, but other than that, it seems to be a fully digital trailer and not bootlegged from sneaks of Bolt this past Saturday. (Okay, I get it: Star Trek is Star Trek... and you know who else pulls a very similar 'letting a vehicle crumple around you' trick? Bolt does.) 2. Said watermark and the YouTube premiere suggests that this hasn't been officially released by the studio yet, so I'd be willing to bet that this trailer gets taken down by the end of the day. Good luck! 3. More power to Johnson for throwing himself wholly into work like this, even if we can already see his character growing out of skepticism and towards accountability over the course of these two minutes. (Besides, Brendan Fraser can't hold a monopoly on all the family adventure hero roles.) With that said, thanks to Roger Moore of the Orlando Sentinel for digging this up, and onto the trailer! Race to Witch Mountain opens next March.
